Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

Melt Butter
In a medium saucepan, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter over low heat.

Mix Sugars
Once melted, remove from heat and stir in 1 cup granulated sugar and 1 cup brown sugar until well combined.

Add Eggs and Vanilla
Add 4 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 2 tsp of vanilla extract.

Combine Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, and 0.5 tsp salt.

Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Fold in 1 cup of chocolate chips.

Bake
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Cool
Allow the brownies to cool in the pan before cutting them into squares.
Hot Fudge Sauce

Combine Ingredients
In a medium saucepan, combine 0.5 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 cup granulated sugar, 0.5 cup heavy cream, and 0.25 cup unsalted butter.

Cook the Sauce
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture is smooth and begins to boil.

Finish the Sauce
Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in 1 tsp of vanilla extract. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Sundae Assembly

Scoop Ice Cream
In serving bowls, place 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream per bowl.

Add Brownies
Cut the cooled brownies into squares and place on top of the ice cream.

Drizzle with Hot Fudge
Generously drizzle the hot fudge sauce over the brownies and ice cream.

Garnish
Sprinkle chopped nuts on top and finish with a maraschino cherry.
