Method

Fish Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fish

Rinse the fish fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Sprinkle salt and black pepper evenly on both sides of the fillets.

  2. 2

    Marinate

Drizzle lemon juice over the seasoned fish and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.

Batter Preparation

  1. 3

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, and baking powder.

  2. 4

    Add Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the cold water and egg. Gradually add this mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until a smooth batter forms.

Frying the Fish

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Coat the Fish

Dip each marinated fish fillet into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.

  3. 7

    Fry the Fish

Carefully place the battered fish fillets into the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.

  4. 8

    Drain Excess Oil

Once cooked, remove the fish from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
