Prepare the Burger Patty

Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined; do not overwork the meat.

Form Patties
Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty that is slightly larger than the burger buns. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Add Cheese
After flipping the patties, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for another 4-5 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.

Prepare Buns
While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half. You can toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster if desired.
