Method
Chopped Steak Preparation
- 1
Form the Patties
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and form each portion into a patty about 1-inch thick.
- 2
Cook the Patties
In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the patties to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
Gravy and Veggies Preparation
- 3
Sauté the Vegetables
In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and sliced mushrooms. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
- 4
Make the Gravy
Stir in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring the mixture to a simmer. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with the water to create a slurry. Gradually add this slurry to the skillet, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens. Season with additional salt and pepper to taste.
