Beef Patty

Grilled Onions

Method

Beef Patty

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Patty

In a large mixing bowl, combine the Angus ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, about 1/2 inch thick.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired doneness.

Grilled Onions

  1. 4

    Slice the Onions

Peel and slice the large onion into thin rings.

  2. 5

    Grill the Onions

In the same skillet used for the patties, add butter and melt over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are caramelized and golden brown, about 10 minutes.

Gravy

  1. 6

    Make the Gravy Base

In a saucepan over medium heat, add the beef broth and bring it to a simmer.

  2. 7

    Thicken the Gravy

In a small bowl, mix the all-purpose flour with a little cold water to make a slurry. Slowly whisk the slurry into the simmering broth until thickened.

  3. 8

    Season the Gravy

Stir in salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Allow the gravy to simmer for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Serving

  1. 9

    Assemble the Dish

Place each cooked beef patty on a plate. Top with the grilled onions and pour the gravy over the top.

  2. 10

    Serve with Sides

Serve the hamburger steak with a side of mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli.
