Method
Preparing Chicken Strips
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
Cut the boneless chicken breast into strips (about 1 inch wide). Place the chicken strips in a bowl and cover them with buttermilk. Allow them to marinate for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
- 2
Prepare the Breading
In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. This will be your breading mixture.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Bread the Chicken
Remove the chicken strips from the buttermilk and shake off excess. Dredge each strip in the breading mixture, ensuring they are well coated.
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place the breaded chicken strips in the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- 6
Drain the Chicken
Once cooked, remove the chicken strips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
