Main Ingredient

Method

Preparing the Filet

  1. 1

    Marinate the Filet

In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Rub this mixture all over the Angus beef filet. Optionally, add a sprig of fresh rosemary for additional flavor. Cover the filet with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If using a grill pan, heat it on the stovetop until hot.

  3. 3

    Grill the Filet

Place the marinated filet on the grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting the time based on your desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature (130°F for medium-rare).

  4. 4

    Rest the Filet

Once cooked to your liking, remove the filet from the grill and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This helps the juices redistribute throughout the meat.

Preparing the Sides

  1. 5

    Prepare Green Beans

Wash and trim the ends of the green beans. In a pot of boiling salted water, blanch the green beans for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.

  2. 6

    Prepare Mashed Potatoes

Peel and dice the potatoes. Boil them in salted water until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and mash with butter, cream, and salt to taste.
