Filet Mignon

Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Method

Filet Mignon

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steaks

Remove the filet mignon steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This ensures even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steaks

Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Sear the Steaks

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steaks and sear for 4-5 minutes on one side until a crust forms.

  4. 4

    Flip and Add Butter

Flip the steaks and add butter and fresh rosemary to the pan. Cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, basting the steaks with the melted butter.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steaks

Remove the steaks from the skillet and place them on a plate. Cover loosely with foil and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes

  1. 6

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes into quarters. Place them in a large pot of cold salted water.

  2. 7

    Cook the Potatoes

Bring the water to a boil over high heat. Add the garlic cloves. Reduce heat and let simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender.

  3. 8

    Drain and Mash

Drain the potatoes and garlic. Return them to the pot and add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

  4. 9

    Serve

Serve the garlic mashed potatoes alongside the filet mignon for a delicious meal.
