Preparation

- 2
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsweetened chocolate and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth.
- 3
Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and large egg yolks until the mixture is thick and pale in color. This should take about 2-3 minutes.
- 4
Combine Mixtures
Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture while stirring continuously to combine. Add in the vanilla extract and mix well.
- 5
Add Dry Ingredients
Sift in the all-purpose flour and a pinch of salt into the chocolate mixture. Gently fold the flour into the batter until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
Baking
- 6
Pour into Ramekins
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.
- 7
Bake
Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.
- 8
Cool Briefly
Remove the ramekins from the oven and let them cool for about 1 minute. Carefully run a knife around the edges to loosen the cakes.
Serving
- 9
Serve
Invert each ramekin onto a dessert plate. Gently tap the bottom to release the cake. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
