Topping Preparation

Chop the Tomatoes
Dice the Roma tomatoes into small cubes and place them in a mixing bowl.

Add Basil and Garlic
Chop the fresh basil leaves and mince the garlic cloves. Add both to the bowl with the tomatoes.

Season the Mixture
Pour in the extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Gently mix all the ingredients together until well combined.

Let it Marinate
Allow the mixture to sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes to let the flavors meld together.

Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Slice the Baguette
Cut the baguette into 1/2 inch thick slices on a diagonal.

Brush with Olive Oil
Place the slices on a baking sheet and brush each slice with the extra virgin olive oil.

Toast the Bread
Bake in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and crispy.

Top the Bread
Remove the toasted bread from the oven and let it cool slightly. Spoon a generous amount of the tomato and basil mixture onto each slice.
