Bread Pudding

Method

Bread Pudding

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bread

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Tear the stale bread into bite-sized pieces and place in a large mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet mixture over the torn bread. Gently fold in the bread until it is thoroughly soaked. If using, add raisins or pecans at this stage.

  4. 4

    Bake

Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish and spread it out evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Whiskey Sauce

  1. 5

    Prepare the Sauce

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Stir in the brown sugar and continue to cook until the mixture is bubbling.

  2. 6

    Add Remaining Ingredients

Carefully stir in the heavy cream and whiskey. Allow it to simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
