Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 2

    Cook the Lasagna Noodles

In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Meat Sauce

  1. 3

    Cook the Ground Beef

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 4

    Add Onion and Garlic

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until onion is translucent, about 2-3 minutes.

  3. 5

    Make the Sauce

Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Cheese Mixture

  1. 6

    Combine Cheese Ingredients

In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, and salt. Mix until smooth and well combined.

Assemble the Lasagna

  1. 7

    Layer Ingredients

In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place 4 noodles on top, followed by a layer of the ricotta mixture, then another layer of meat sauce. Repeat the layers (noodles, ricotta, meat sauce) until all ingredients are used, finishing with meat sauce on top.

  2. 8

    Add Mozzarella

Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the lasagna.

Baking

  1. 9

    Bake the Lasagna

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  2. 10

    Cool and Serve

Remove from oven and let the lasagna cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
