Bread Ingredients

Garlic Herb Topping

Method

Bread Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Make Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

  5. 5

    Shape Bread

After the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into a loaf or divide it into smaller pieces for rolls.

  6. 6

    Second Rise

Place the shaped dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover, and let it rise for another 30 minutes.

  7. 7

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) while the dough is rising.

  8. 8

    Bake Bread

Once the dough has risen again, bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.

Garlic Herb Topping

  1. 9

    Prepare Topping

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  2. 10

    Add Herbs

Stir in chopped parsley, dried oregano, and salt into the garlic butter mixture. Remove from heat and set aside.

Final Assembly

  1. 11

    Apply Topping

Once the bread is baked and slightly cooled, brush the garlic herb topping generously over the bread.

  2. 12

    Serve

Slice the bread and serve warm as a delicious side to any meal.
