Method
Prepare the Dough
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
- 4
Knead the Dough
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
Let Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Prepare the Filling
- 6
Assemble the Bread
- 7
Shape the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it out into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.
- 8
Add Filling
Spread the cheese filling evenly over the surface of the rolled-out dough.
- 9
Roll Up the Dough
Starting from one end of the rectangle, carefully roll the dough up tightly into a log shape.
- 10
Seal the Edges
Pinch the ends and seams to seal the dough. Place the rolled dough seam side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Prepare the Topping
- 11
Mix Topping Ingredients
In a small bowl, combine the grated Parmesan cheese, olive oil, garlic powder, and dried oregano.
- 12
Spread Topping
Brush the topping mixture over the surface of the rolled dough.
Bake the Bread
- 13
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 14
Bake
Bake the garlic cheese bread in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- 15
Cool and Serve
Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm with a salad or as a side dish.
