Cake Preparation

Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

Mix Wet Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until smooth and creamy.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking powder.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

In a medium saucepan, combine the fresh blackberries, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch.

Cook over medium heat, stirring gently, until the mixture begins to bubble and thicken, about 5-7 minutes.

Remove from heat and let the berry topping cool to room temperature.
