Remove from heat and immediately spread 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter on each warm half so it melts into the nooks. Sprinkle each half with a light pinch of coarse sea salt (about 1/16–1/8 tsp per half) if desired.
- 4
If serving sweet, spread 1 teaspoon of jam or honey per half. For savory, top with cream cheese, sliced avocado, tomato, and chopped herbs as desired.

Warm and finish biscuits
If biscuits are refrigerated, bring to room temperature for 10–15 minutes. If frozen, follow package instructions to thaw. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) or heat a skillet over medium-low for stovetop warming.
- 6
Place whole biscuits in the oven on a baking sheet for 6–10 minutes (depending on size) until heated through and the exterior is lightly toasted. For skillet method, cut biscuits in half horizontally and toast cut-side down in a skillet with 1 tablespoon butter over medium-low for 2–3 minutes until golden and crisp.
- 7
Remove the biscuits from the oven or skillet. Spread 1 tablespoon of butter on each half while still warm so it melts. Optionally drizzle 1 teaspoon of honey or spread jam on the top half. Finish with a light grind of coarse black pepper if serving savory.
- 8
Serve biscuits open-faced or sandwiched; add cream cheese, avocado slices, tomato, and herbs if desired.
