Cold Cereals (Individual bowls)

Hot Cereal - Cream of Wheat / Farina (per serving)

Method

Cold Cereals (Individual bowls)

  1. 1

Place 3/4 cup cornflakes into a bowl. Pour 1/2 cup cold milk over the cereal just before serving to keep flakes crisp. Top with sliced banana or other fresh fruit if desired and drizzle 1 tsp honey or maple syrup for extra sweetness.

Cold Granola / Muesli Bowl

  1. 2

Spoon 3/4 cup granola or muesli into a bowl. Add 1/2 cup yogurt and gently fold to combine. If you prefer a looser texture, stir in 1–2 tablespoons milk. Scatter 1/4 cup fresh berries or diced fruit on top. Add any optional nuts, seeds or a small drizzle of honey to taste.

Hot Cereal - Oatmeal (per serving)

  1. 3

    Stovetop method

Bring 1 cup water and a pinch of salt to a simmer in a small saucepan. Stir in 1/2 cup rolled oats. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until thickened, about 5 minutes. If you prefer creamier oats, stir in 2 tablespoons milk near the end of cooking. Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon butter and 1 tablespoon brown sugar or other sweetener if using. Top with fruit, nuts or cinnamon and serve immediately.

  2. 4

    Microwave method

Combine 1/2 cup rolled oats, 1 cup water and 1/8 tsp salt in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 minutes (watch to prevent boiling over). Stir, add milk for creaminess and sweeten to taste. Top with desired add-ins and serve.

Hot Cereal - Cream of Wheat / Farina (per serving)

  1. 5

Bring 1 cup milk or water and 1/8 teaspoon salt to a gentle boil in a small saucepan. Slowly whisk in 3 tablespoons Cream of Wheat or farina. Reduce heat and cook, stirring constantly, for 1–2 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon butter and 1 teaspoon sugar or honey if desired. Serve with cinnamon, fruit or nuts.

Toppings & Add-ins (shared)

  1. 6

Offer chopped nuts, raisins, cinnamon and fresh fruit as optional toppings. For each serving: sprinkle 1–2 tablespoons nuts, 1 tablespoon dried fruit, and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon or a few tablespoons fresh fruit. Adjust quantities to taste. Stir toppings into hot cereal to warm them, or sprinkle on cold cereal/granola to keep them crunchy.
