Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Dice the beef, pork, or chicken into small pieces. Chop the carrots, onions, bell pepper, and green onions. Mince the garlic.

  2. 2

    Cook the Rice

If you haven't already, cook the rice according to package instructions and let it cool. Ideally, use day-old rice for best results.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Protein

In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add the diced beef, pork, or chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

  2. 4

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of sesame oil. Add the diced onions, carrots, bell pepper, and garlic. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until vegetables are tender.

  3. 5

    Add Rice and Combine

Add the cooked rice to the skillet with the sautéed vegetables. Stir well to combine and break up any clumps of rice.

  4. 6

    Season the Rice

Pour in the soy sauce and add salt and black pepper to taste. Stir continuously for about 2-3 minutes until the rice is heated through.

  5. 7

    Incorporate Protein

Add the cooked beef, pork, or chicken back into the skillet. Stir to combine all ingredients evenly.

  6. 8

    Scramble Eggs

Push the rice mixture to one side of the skillet. Crack the eggs on the empty side and scramble until fully cooked. Mix the scrambled eggs into the rice.

Finishing Touches

  1. 9

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat and stir in the sliced green onions. Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds if desired.
