Method

Garnish

1

Prepare lime

Cut a fresh lime into wedges. Reserve one wedge for squeezing and one for garnish on the glass rim.

2

Prepare cucumber ribbon

Using a vegetable peeler, shave a lengthwise ribbon from a washed cucumber. Roll the ribbon loosely and set aside to place in the glass.

3

Prepare mint

Gently clap the mint sprig between your palms once to release aroma, then set aside for garnish.

Assemble drink

4

Select a large balloon or highball glass. Fill the glass three-quarters full with fresh ice cubes (about 6 cubes) to keep the drink well chilled.

5

Measure and pour 50 ml Lussmanns Garden Gin over the ice.

6

Slowly add 150 ml chilled Indian tonic water. Pour gently down the side of the glass or over the back of a spoon to preserve carbonation.

7

Squeeze the reserved lime wedge lightly over the drink to release a little juice, then drop the wedge into the glass.

8

Add the cucumber ribbon and place the mint sprig on top as garnish. If using bitters, add 1 dash across the surface for depth of aroma.

9

Give the drink one gentle, brief stir (3–4 turns) with a bar spoon to marry ingredients without flattening the tonic.

10

Serve immediately with a short straw or without, allowing the garnish to perfume the drink as you sip.
