Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine the warm milk (about 110°F) and the active dry yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- 3
- 4
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Frying
- 6
Prepare the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 7
Shape the Donuts
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out to about ½ inch thickness. Cut it into strips (about 1-2 inches wide) and then twist each strip into a stick shape.
- 8
Fry the Donuts
Carefully place the dough sticks into the hot oil, frying them in batches for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Frosting Preparation
- 9
Make the Frosting
In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if needed.
- 10
Drizzle the Frosting
Using a spoon, drizzle the frosting over the warm donuts while they are still on the paper towels to allow it to set.
