Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Muddle Mint and Sugar

In a sturdy glass or a cocktail shaker, add the fresh mint leaves and the granulated sugar. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently crush the mint leaves to release their oils. Be careful not to shred them, just enough to combine with the sugar.

  2. 2

    Add Bourbon

Pour the bourbon over the muddled mint and sugar mixture in the glass. Stir gently to combine all the ingredients, ensuring that the sugar begins to dissolve.

  3. 3

    Add Crushed Ice

Fill the glass or shaker with crushed ice, packing it tightly to create a frosty exterior. The ice should be heaping above the rim of the glass.

  4. 4

    Garnish and Serve

Top the drink with more fresh mint leaves for aroma and garnish with a mint sprig. Optionally, you can drizzle a little more bourbon over the ice for an extra kick. Serve immediately with a straw.
