Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s hot enough for baking.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Baking Pan

Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with butter or line it with parchment paper for easy removal of the brownies.

Mixing Ingredients

  1. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  2. 4

    Melt Butter

In a small saucepan or microwave, melt the unsalted butter until completely liquid. Allow it to cool slightly.

  3. 5

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  4. 6

    Combine Wet and Dry

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  5. 7

    Add Optional Ingredients

If using, fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts until evenly distributed.

Baking

  1. 8

    Pour Batter into Pan

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

  2. 9

    Bake the Brownies

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  3. 10

    Cool and Cut

Remove from the oven and let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes. Then, lift them out using the parchment paper or cut them directly in the pan.
