Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Vegetables
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until they are caramelized, about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 2
Cooking the Meat
- 3
Cook the Beef
In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the thinly sliced beef. Cook for about 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the beef is browned and cooked through.
- 4
Melt the Cheese
Lower the heat and pour in the Cheese Whiz over the cooked beef. Stir until the cheese is melted and well combined with the meat.
Assembly
- 5
Assemble the Cheese Steaks
Slice the hoagie rolls down the middle without cutting all the way through. Place a generous amount of the beef and cheese mixture into each roll, followed by the caramelized vegetables.
- 6
Toast the Hoagies
Optional: Place the assembled hoagies under a broiler for 2-3 minutes until the bread is lightly toasted and crispy.
