Sopes Ingredients
Method
Sopes Preparation
- 1
Make the Sopes
In a mixing bowl, combine the corn masa harina, warm water, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- 2
Shape the Sopes
Divide the dough into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and then flatten into a disc about 1/2 inch thick. Pinch the edges to create a small border.
- 3
Cook the Sopes
Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook each sopes disc for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- 4
Assemble the Sopes
Spread a layer of refried beans on top of each sopes. Top with shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, crumbled queso fresco, and sour cream.
- 5
Serve
Add salsa on top to taste, and serve warm.
