Method

Marinating Chicken

  1. 1

    Prepare Marinade

In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, hot sauce, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Marinate Chicken

Add the chicken breasts to the marinade, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for best results).

Breading the Chicken

  1. 3

    Prepare Breading

In a shallow dish, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, cayenne pepper, and additional salt.

  2. 4

    Bread Chicken

Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess liquid to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, coating evenly. Shake off any excess flour.

Frying Chicken

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a large skillet, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  2. 6

    Fry Chicken

Carefully add the breaded chicken breasts to the hot oil. Fry for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Preparing Chili Remoulade

  1. 7

    Mix Ingredients

In a bowl, combine the mayonnaise, chili paste, lemon juice, dijon mustard, and chopped parsley. Stir until well blended and smooth.

Assembling Sandwich

  1. 8

    Prepare Buns

Toast the burger buns lightly if desired.

  2. 9

    Build Sandwich

Spread a generous amount of chili remoulade on the bottom half of each bun. Place the fried chicken breast on top, followed by lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.
