Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare 17 round cake pans by greasing them with butter and dusting with flour.

Prepare the Batter
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Cream Butter and Sugar
In another bowl, cream the unsalted butter until light and fluffy. Gradually add the sugar and beat until well combined.

Bake the Layers
Divide the batter evenly among the 17 prepared pans. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool the Layers
Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Chocolate Ganache

Heat the Cream
In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Do not let it boil.

Melt the Chocolate
Remove the saucepan from heat and add the chocolate chips to the hot cream. Let it sit for 5 minutes to allow the chocolate to melt.

Stir Until Smooth
Whisk the mixture until smooth and glossy. Allow the ganache to cool slightly before using.
