Method
Preparing the Lobster
- 1
Cook the Lobster
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the Maine lobster and cook for about 8-10 minutes, or until the shell turns bright red and the meat is opaque. Remove the lobster from the pot and let it cool.
- 2
Extract Lobster Meat
Once cool, crack the lobster shell and remove the meat. Chop it into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
Cooking the Pasta
- 3
Boil the Pasta
In a large pot, boil salted water. Add the fresh penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 3-5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
Making the Sauce
- 4
Sauté Garlic
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- 5
Add Red Pepper Flakes
Stir in the crushed red pepper flakes and cook for another 30 seconds.
- 6
Combine Tomato Sauce and Vodka
Pour in the tomato sauce and vodka, stirring to combine. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- 7
Incorporate Cream
Add the heavy cream to the skillet and mix well. Season with salt and black pepper. Let it simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
Combining Ingredients
- 8
Mix Pasta and Lobster
Add the cooked penne pasta and lobster meat to the skillet with the sauce. Toss gently to coat the pasta and lobster evenly.
- 9
Garnish and Serve
Remove from heat and stir in the chopped fresh basil. Serve the lobster pasta hot, garnished with additional basil if desired.
