Ingredients
For the Onion Rings
Instructions
1. Prepare the Onions
Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.
2. Make the Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Gradually add ice-cold water and mix until the batter is smooth and thick.
3. Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
4. Coat the Onion Rings
Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.
5. Fry the Onion Rings
Carefully place the coated onion rings into the hot oil, frying them in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
6. Drain and Serve
Remove the onion rings from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
