Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the strips of bacon until crispy. Remove from the skillet and let drain on paper towels.

  2. 2

    Cook the Beef Patty

In the same skillet, drain excess bacon fat, leaving about 1 tablespoon. Form the lean ground beef into a patty and season both sides with salt and black pepper. Cook the patty in the skillet over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired doneness.

  3. 3

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking the beef patty, place the slices of American cheese on top of the patty to melt.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Bun

While the cheese is melting, lightly toast the hamburger bun in the skillet or toaster until golden brown.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of the toasted bun, spread the ketchup and mustard. Place the cooked beef patty with melted cheese on top, followed by the crispy bacon strips and fried onions.

  2. 6

    Finish the Burger

Top with the other half of the bun, press down gently, and the Whimpy’s Bacon Cheeseburger is ready to serve.
