Method

Prepare the Bread

  1. 1

    Slice the Bread

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the French bread in half lengthwise to create two halves.

  2. 2

    Mix the Garlic Oil

In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic (from 4 cloves), and salt. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Brush the Bread

Using a pastry brush, generously apply the garlic oil mixture over the cut sides of the bread.

Prepare the Cheese Mixture

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, dried oregano, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and well combined.

  2. 5

    Spread the Mixture

Spread the cheese mixture evenly over the brushed sides of the bread halves.

Bake the Bread

  1. 6

    Bake

Place the bread halves on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges of the bread are golden brown.

Prepare the Classic Red Sauce

  1. 7

    Cook the Sauce

In a saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic (from 2 cloves) and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 8

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried basil, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Serve

  1. 9

    Serve

Once the garlic cheese bread is baked and the red sauce is ready, cut the bread into slices and serve with the classic red sauce on the side for dipping.
