Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Melt the Butter

In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Mixing Ingredients

  1. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

Add the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract to the melted butter. Whisk until smooth and well combined.

  2. 4

    Sift Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, sift together cocoa powder and salt.

  3. 5

    Combine All Ingredients

Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.

Baking

  1. 6

    Pour into Pan

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.

  2. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  3. 8

    Cool the Torte

Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, remove the torte from the pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack.

Serving

  1. 9

    Optional Toppings

Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar and serve with fresh berries and whipped cream if desired.
