Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Cook the cannelloni tubes in a large pot of salted boiling water for about 8-10 minutes until slightly soft but still firm. Drain and set aside to cool.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Filling

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until fragrant and the onion becomes translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the ground beef, cooking until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the parsley, ricotta cheese, grated parmesan, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until combined.

Assembly

  1. 3

    Stuff the Cannelloni

Using a small spoon or a piping bag, carefully fill each cannelloni tube with the beef filling mixture. Place the stuffed tubes in a baking dish.

  2. 4

    Prepare the Sauce

In a separate bowl, mix the tomato sauce with oregano, salt, and black pepper. Pour about half of the sauce over the stuffed cannelloni in the baking dish.

  3. 5

    Add the Topping

Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the cannelloni. Pour the remaining tomato sauce on top.

Baking

  1. 6

    Bake the Cannelloni

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  2. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Once cooked, remove from the oven, garnish with fresh basil leaves, and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
