Pasta Preparation

Cook the Penne Pasta
In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Prepare the Sauce
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.

Combine and Bake
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked penne pasta with the prepared sauce, mixing until the pasta is well coated. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes. Serve hot and enjoy your Baked Penne!
