Method

Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Burger Patties

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, approximately 10 ounces each. Make a slight indent in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness. Add a slice of cheddar cheese during the last minute of cooking to melt.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Burgers

Toast the burger buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster. Place the cooked patties on the bottom half of each bun. Top with lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Cover with the top half of the buns.

French Fry Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 6

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  3. 7

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the potato strips to the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  4. 8

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle with salt to taste.
