Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Mix until a dough forms. Transfer it onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let the Dough Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Assembling the Pizza

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.

  2. 6

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out to your desired thickness and shape.

  3. 7

    Add Sauce and Cheese

Transfer the shaped dough onto a pizza peel or parchment paper. Spread tomato sauce evenly over the surface, leaving a small border. Tear fresh mozzarella into pieces and distribute them over the sauce.

  4. 8

    Drizzle with Olive Oil

Drizzle the pizza with olive oil and sprinkle salt over the toppings.

  5. 9

    Bake the Pizza

Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.

  6. 10

    Add Basil

Once the pizza is out of the oven, add fresh basil leaves on top for garnish.

  7. 11

    Slice and Serve

Let the pizza cool for a couple of minutes, slice, and serve hot.
