Bread Ingredients

Method

Bread Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water (105°F - 110°F) and sugar. Add the active dry yeast and stir gently. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Mix them well to ensure the salt is evenly distributed.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Once the yeast is frothy, pour it into the flour mixture. Stir with a wooden spoon until the dough starts to come together.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface. Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. You can add a little more flour if the dough is too sticky.

  5. 5

    First Rise

Grease a large bowl with a little butter. Place the kneaded dough in the bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

  6. 6

    Shape the Bread

Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release air. Shape it into a loaf by flattening it and rolling it up tightly. Pinch the seams to seal.

  7. 7

    Second Rise

Place the shaped loaf in a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan. Cover it again with the kitchen towel and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes until it has risen above the rim of the pan.

  8. 8

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) while the dough is rising.

  9. 9

    Bake the Bread

Once the dough has risen, place the loaf in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.

  10. 10

    Cool and Serve

Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve warm with butter.
