Half Waffle with Strawberries
Drink (choose 1)
Method
Bacon & Eggs with Toast
- 1
Cook bacon
Place a medium nonstick or cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Lay the 2 bacon strips in the cold skillet without overlapping. Cook 3–4 minutes on the first side until edges start to brown, then flip and cook another 2–3 minutes for slightly crisp bacon (longer if you want very crisp). Transfer bacon to a paper-towel-lined plate to drain while you cook the eggs. Reserve 1/2 tbs bacon fat in the pan or wipe clean and add butter for eggs, depending on desired flavor.
- 2
Cook eggs
If you kept bacon fat: reduce heat to medium-low. If not, add 1 tbs unsalted butter to a clean skillet and melt over medium-low. Crack 2 eggs into a small bowl, season with 1/4 tsp salt and 1/8 tsp black pepper, then gently slide into the skillet. For sunny-side-up: cook undisturbed 2–3 minutes until whites are set but yolks still runny. For over-easy: cook 2 minutes, carefully flip with a spatula, and cook 20–30 seconds more. For scrambled: whisk eggs first and cook, stirring, until soft-set (about 2–3 minutes). Remove eggs to plate and cover loosely to keep warm.

Half Waffle with Strawberries
- 5
Heat waffle: If using a frozen waffle, cook according to package directions (usually toaster 2–3 minutes or oven at 350°F / 175°C for 6–8 minutes) until hot and crisp. If using a fresh pre-made waffle, reheat in toaster for 1–2 minutes. Use half of the waffle (0.5 count).
- 6
Prepare strawberries: Rinse 3 strawberries under cold water, hull (remove green tops), and slice into thin pieces or halves depending on size. If strawberries are large, slice into 6–8 pieces so they’re easy for a child to eat.
- 7
Assemble waffle: Place the half waffle on the plate next to the bacon and eggs. Arrange the sliced strawberries on top or to the side. Drizzle 2 tbs maple syrup over the waffle or serve syrup on the side for dipping. Sprinkle 1/2 tsp powdered sugar lightly over the strawberries and waffle if desired.
Drink
- 8
Select one drink: pour 1 cup (8 fl oz / ~240 ml) of the chosen beverage — milk, juice, or small soda — into a child-safe cup. If serving milk, consider slightly chilling or serving at fridge temperature. For juice, consider diluting half with water for younger children if desired. Place the drink on the tray or table with the meal.
Safety & Serving Notes
- 9
Allow hot items (eggs, bacon, waffle) to cool slightly before giving to a child. Cut or portion items into bite-sized pieces as appropriate for the child’s age and chewing ability. Supervise young children while eating. Adjust seasoning and syrup amount to preference.
