Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice and water while you prepare the cocktail to chill the glass.

  2. 2

    Combine ingredients

Add 2 oz Canadian whisky, 1 oz sweet vermouth, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters into a mixing glass or Boston shaker.

  3. 3

    Add ice and stir

Fill the mixing glass with ice (about 1 cup). Stir gently with a bar spoon for 20–30 seconds (about 15–20 full rotations) until well chilled and properly diluted.

  4. 4

    Strain

Discard ice/water from the chilled serving glass if used. Double-strain the cocktail from the mixing glass into the chilled coupe or martini glass using a Hawthorne or fine strainer to remove small ice chips.

  5. 5

    Garnish

Express the oils of an orange twist over the drink by holding the twist over the glass and giving it a firm bend so the oils spray onto the surface. Rub the peel around the rim if desired, then drop the twist into the glass. Add a cocktail cherry if you like.

  6. 6

    Serve immediately and enjoy.
