Method

Bread Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a large bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough

Add the olive oil, salt, and flour to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  5. 5

    Shape and Preheat

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf.

  6. 6

    Second Rise

Place the loaf in a greased baking pan and let it rise for another 30 minutes.

  7. 7

    Bake Bread

Bake for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

Compound Butter Preparation

  1. 8

    Mix Compound Butter

In a bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, herbs, and lemon zest. Mix until well blended.

  2. 9

    Shape Butter

Transfer the butter mixture onto a piece of parchment paper or plastic wrap, and roll it into a log shape. Twist the ends to seal.

  3. 10

    Chill Butter

Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes until firm.
