Method

For the Carne Asada

1

Marinate the Flank Steak

In a bowl, mix olive oil, lime juice, garlic powder, chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Add the flank steak and ensure it's well-coated. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

2

Cook the Flank Steak

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the flank steak from the marinade and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until desired doneness. Allow it to rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly.

For the Black Beans

3

Prepare the Black Beans

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the canned black beans (drained and rinsed), cumin, garlic powder, and salt. Stir and let simmer for about 5-10 minutes until heated through.

For the White Rice

4

Cook the White Rice

In a medium saucepan, combine white rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 18-20 minutes or until the rice is tender and water is absorbed.

Assembly

5

Assemble the Tacos

On each lettuce leaf, place a portion of the sliced carne asada, then top with fresh cilantro, diced onions, and avocado slices. Serve with black beans and white rice on the side.
