Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Slice the Protein

Cut the chicken and beef into thin strips, about 1/2 inch wide.

  2. 2

    Chop the Vegetables

Slice the onion, bell peppers, and tomato into thin strips.

Marinating the Protein

  1. 3

    Combine Marinade Ingredients

In a bowl, mix olive oil, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 4

    Marinate the Protein

Add the sliced chicken and beef to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Cooking

  1. 5

    Prepare the Ranchero Sauce

In a saucepan, combine tomato sauce, water, cilantro, and lime juice. Simmer over low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  2. 6

    Grill the Protein

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated chicken and beef for 5-7 minutes or until cooked through, stirring occasionally.

  3. 7

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Sauté for about 5 minutes until they are tender.

  4. 8

    Combine Everything

Add the cooked chicken and beef back into the skillet with the vegetables. Pour the ranchero sauce over the mixture and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Serving

  1. 9

    Warm the Tortillas

Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until soft and pliable.

  2. 10

    Assemble the Fajitas

Serve the protein and vegetable mixture in the warmed tortillas, garnishing as desired.
