Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the ribeye steaks out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This ensures even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Rub both sides of the steaks with olive oil, then generously season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or a heavy skillet (preferably cast iron) over high heat for about 5-10 minutes until it is very hot.

  2. 4

    Cook the Steak

Place the seasoned ribeye steaks on the hot grill or skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them, allowing a crust to form.

  3. 5

    Flip the Steak

Flip the steaks using tongs and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or longer depending on your preferred doneness.

  4. 6

    Add Optional Ingredients

If using, add the butter and fresh rosemary to the pan during the last minute of cooking. Spoon the melted butter over the steaks for added flavor.

Resting

  1. 7

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked to your liking, remove the steaks from the heat and let them rest on a cutting board for about 5-10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve the Steak

Slice the ribeye steaks against the grain and serve immediately, optionally garnished with more fresh rosemary or a sprinkle of salt.
