Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and lightly dust them with flour to prevent sticking.

  2. 2

    Melt the Chocolate and Butter

In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the unsalted butter and dark chocolate. Stir continuously until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix the Sugar and Eggs

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and large egg yolks until the mixture is pale and slightly thickened.

  4. 4

    Combine Ingredients

Once the chocolate and butter mixture has cooled slightly, pour it into the egg mixture. Add the vanilla extract, flour, and salt. Gently fold the ingredients together until just combined.

  5. 5

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full.

  6. 6

    Bake

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, until the edges are firm but the center remains soft.

  7. 7

    Cool and Serve

Let the cakes cool for 1 minute. Then, carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate. Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
