Juice lemon
If not already done, juice a fresh lemon and measure 3 teaspoons (about 1/2 ounce) of juice. Strain to remove pulp and seeds.
- 3
Combine ingredients
Add 1 oz Fiddler Bourbon, 1 oz Amaro Nonino, 1 oz Aperol, and 3 tsp fresh lemon juice to a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker with about 6 large ice cubes.
- 4
Shake
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the outside of the shaker is very cold and slightly frosted. The vigorous shake both chills and dilutes to the proper balance.
- 5
Strain and serve
Dump the ice or water from the chilled coupe. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer (or just a Hawthorne if you don't mind small ice shards).

- 7
Serve
Serve immediately while cold and slightly diluted. This recipe yields one Paper Plane served up.
