Method

Cooking the Shrimp

  1. 1

    Prepare the boiling water

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil. Add the lemon slices and Old Bay seasoning to the water.

  2. 2

    Cook the shrimp

Once the water is boiling, add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the pot. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.

  3. 3

    Chill the shrimp

Remove the shrimp from the pot and immediately place them in a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Let them chill for about 5 minutes.

Making the Cocktail Sauce

  1. 4

    Mix the ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine the ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  2. 5

    Adjust seasoning

Taste the cocktail sauce and adjust seasoning as needed, adding more horseradish for heat or more lemon juice for acidity.

Serving

  1. 6

    Plate the shrimp

Drain the shrimp from the ice water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Arrange the chilled shrimp on a serving platter.

  2. 7

    Serve with sauce

Serve the shrimp with the cocktail sauce on the side for dipping.
