Method

Filling Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Meat

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is soft and translucent.

  2. 2

    Add Ground Beef and Chicken

Stir in the ground beef and shredded chicken. Cook until the meat is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 3

    Season the Mixture

Add cumin powder, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and let cook for another 2-3 minutes to ensure the spices are well incorporated.

  4. 4

    Cool the Filling

Remove the skillet from heat and let the meat mixture cool slightly before assembling the taquitos.

Assembly and Cooking

  1. 5

    Prepare the Tortillas

Warm the corn tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave for a few seconds until they are pliable.

  2. 6

    Fill the Tortillas

Place 2-3 tablespoons of the meat mixture in the center of each tortilla. Sprinkle some grated cheese on top of the filling.

  3. 7

    Roll the Taquitos

Carefully roll the tortillas tightly around the filling and place seam-side down on a plate.

  4. 8

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot and shimmering.

  5. 9

    Fry the Taquitos

Fry the taquitos in batches, seam-side down, for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 10

    Serve

Serve hot with sour cream and salsa on the side for dipping.
