Meatballs

Marinara Sauce

Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatball Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, eggs, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Use your hands to mix the ingredients until well combined. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet.

  3. 3

    Bake the Meatballs

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the meatballs for about 25 minutes, or until they are browned and cooked through.

Marinara Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Simmer the Sauce

Let the sauce simmer for about 20-30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld, stirring occasionally.

Combine and Serve

  1. 7

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Once the meatballs are baked, add them to the marinara sauce. Let them simmer together for about 10 minutes, allowing the meatballs to absorb some of the sauce.

  2. 8

    Prepare for Serving

Place the meatballs and sauce in a serving dish. Serve with sliced provolone cheese, grated Romano cheese, and baked rolls on the side.
