Brownie Layer

Method

Brownie Layer

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Melt the Butter

In a medium saucepan, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter over low heat. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugars and Eggs

In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter, 1.5 cups granulated sugar, and 0.5 cups light brown sugar. Stir until well combined. Add 3 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 1 tsp vanilla extract.

  4. 4

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together 1 cup all-purpose flour, 0.5 cups unsweetened cocoa powder, and 0.5 tsp salt.

  5. 5

    Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Fold in 0.5 cups chocolate chips.

  6. 6

    Bake the Brownie Layer

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  1. 7

In a large mixing bowl, cream together 0.5 cups unsalted butter, 0.5 cups granulated sugar, and 0.5 cups light brown sugar until fluffy. Add 1 large egg and 1 tsp vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.

  2. 8

In another bowl, whisk together 1.5 cups all-purpose flour, 0.5 tsp baking soda, and 0.5 tsp salt.

  3. 9

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until fully combined. Fold in 1 cup of chocolate chips.

  4. 10

Once the brownie layer is baked, remove it from the oven and spread the cookie dough evenly on top of the warm brownie layer.

  5. 11

Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the cookie layer is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 12

Allow the brookie to cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes before cutting into squares. Serve warm or at room temperature.
