Crispy Cheddar Onions

Method

Turkey Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Turkey

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Rub the whole turkey with olive oil. In a small bowl, mix garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Rub this spice mixture all over the turkey, making sure to get under the skin for maximum flavor.

  2. 2

    Roast the Turkey

Place the turkey in a roasting pan and cover it loosely with foil. Roast in the preheated oven for about 13-15 minutes per pound until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Remove the foil during the last hour to allow the skin to crisp up. Let it rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.

Mixed Greens Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare the Salad

In a large salad bowl, combine the mixed salad greens, halved cherry tomatoes, corn, and black beans. Toss gently to combine.

Crispy Cheddar Onions Preparation

  1. 4

    Fry the Onions

In a bowl, combine sliced onions with flour and beaten egg; mix well. In a skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Drop spoonfuls of the onion mixture into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  2. 5

    Add Cheese

While the onions are still hot, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the fried onions, allowing it to melt slightly.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Serve the BBQ Turkey

On a large platter, place a generous amount of the mixed greens salad in the center. Carve the rested turkey and arrange the slices over the salad. Drizzle chipotle ranch dressing and BBQ sauce over the top. Finish with crispy cheddar onions for added crunch.
