Au Jus Ingredients

Method

Preparing the Au Jus

  1. 1

    Sauté the Onions

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add a splash of oil and sauté the thinly sliced onion until they become translucent, about 5 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add Garlic

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  3. 3

    Combine Broth and Sauces

Pour in the beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper. Stir to combine.

  4. 4

    Simmer the Au Jus

Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Keep warm until ready to serve.

Preparing the Sandwich

  1. 5

    Cook the Wagyu Beef

Season the American Wagyu beef with salt and black pepper. Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat, then sear the beef for about 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or to your desired doneness.

  2. 6

    Rest the Beef

Remove the beef from the heat and let it rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.

  3. 7

    Prepare the Rolls

Slice the French rolls in half and lightly toast them if desired.

  4. 8

    Assemble the Sandwiches

Spread mayonnaise on the inside of each roll. Layer the sliced Wagyu beef evenly on the bottom halves of the rolls, then top with a slice of Swiss cheese.

  5. 9

    Melt the Cheese

Place the assembled sandwiches under a broiler for about 1-2 minutes to melt the Swiss cheese.

  6. 10

    Serve

Close the sandwiches with the top halves of the rolls and serve immediately with the warm Au Jus on the side for dipping.
